Ready to eat your way through New York City? Check out a few of my favorite sweet spots while you walk around.
I hardly ever make a trip to New York without at least one visit to Maman. They have locations all over the city but my favorite will always be the one in TriBeCa. The front is an adorable cafe that you can sit and sip a coffee in while the back of the space is a restaurant that looks like it rolled out of the south of France. I’m not one for being close to people but even I love sitting at the giant farmhouse communal table while I sip my lavender hot chocolate.
If you take your food to-go, make sure to grab a drink in one of their BEAUTIFUL paper cups.
They also host fun crafty events at their locations so if you live in New York City, definitely get on their mailing list!
Of all of the spots on this list, Breads Bakery was the most packed when I went to visit. In the middle of the afternoon. On a weekday. I tend to seek out the most absurd and Instagram-worthy sweet treats when I’m exploring new cities so it was such a refreshing change of pace to wander into a traditional bakery.
Female Foodie had recommended the chocolate babka so I bought a big loaf and posted up in nearby Union Square because the seating in the store is limited. Long story short, this babka was as amazing as everyone claimed and it has forever ruined other babka for me.
Did I mention that Breads will ship you babka if you order it online? Because you can. You’re welcome.
I tend to visit New York during the summer so when I’m thinking of where to eat next, I often lean towards frozen treats!
Milk and Cream is a must-try for cereal milk lovers. You pick a base, a cereal and then they get blended together. Add them to a cone or bowl and then top it with more!
If you are wandering around near Chinatown and are wondering what there is to eat near you, definitely drop in here to hide from the heat!
New York City is not lacking in donut options. That being said, that doesn’t mean that they are all equally delicious. Doughnut Plant has a few locations midtown and below as well as one in Brooklyn and Queens so it is easy to access no matter where you are!
Their blueberry flavor is my favorite but make sure to try some of the rotating flavors too!
If you ever thought: “where can I go to Instagram my food today?” then this is the spot for you.
Foods that are decadent to begin with (think: flakey croissant) are stuffed and topped with toasted meringue. Everything is more over-the-top than it needs to be but it is so worth it. The space is fun too, full of bright colors and shiny materials. Make sure to fill one of their eye-catching boxes to bring home some ornate pastries.
When it comes to gooey cookies, Chip knows what’s up. You can trek to Astoria to their original location or you can swing by the Gansevoort Market in Chelsea because Chip has a booth right by the front! Once you grab your cookies, make sure to walk over to the High Line to eat your dessert with a view.
Alright so this one is more of a novelty than a must-see but I mean, how cute are these milk lattes?!
They also make really adorable macarons and giant watermelon sundaes (because who wasn’t doing that during the summer of 2018?).
