Have you ever seen anything quite as festive as this red, green and bubbly holiday cocktail? I didn’t think so.
I come from a pretty social family, which may shock those of you who know how much I love sitting on the couch in my PJs binge watching old episodes of the West Wing on a regular basis. During the holidays, this gets kicked up a notch with even more dinners and cocktails so having a go-to holiday cocktail was a must! If your holiday social calendar is looking equally busy, take note of this festive bubbly holiday cocktail!
I love this drink because it’s a playful adaptation of a Cosmo (my mother’s favorite). It’s got the tart cranberry and the citrus from the triple sec of a traditional Cosmopolitan but swapping the bubbly in for vodka helps lighten it up and make it seem a little fresher.
I don’t usually drink liquor but I do make the occasional exception. Truffles and milkshakes always taste a little better when boozy (note: I will still love and inhale the virgin versions of both of these) so it was only a matter of time until I branched into making straight up cocktail on the blog.
Will you be getting super social over the holidays or does your family love to stay home and play games together? I’m always fascinated by other people’s family traditions, especially when they differ so much from mine! This will be my husband’s first year celebrating with my family so I’m sure I’ll hear all about how differently we celebrate. It’s amazing how seeing your own family traditions through someone else’s eyes makes you notice all of the parts of it that are special and unique.
Optional Rim Decoration
If you want to go the green rim route, you’ll need the juice from ½ a lemon and ¼ cup of green sprinkles. Pour the lemon juice in a wide, flat dish and the sprinkles in another. Dip the glass in the lemon juice to just coat the top part and then dip in the green sprinkles to coat.
Be warned – green sprinkles can stain your lips when drinking from the glass so if you add sprinkles to your glass, add a gold straw to help your guests stay stain-free!
- ¼ cup triple sec
- ½ cup cranberry juice
- 1 bottle of Prosecco
- ¼ cup fresh cranberries
- Divide triple sec and cranberry juice among four coupe glasses. Top with Prosecco and fresh cranberries.
