Fall has officially arrived so now that October is just around the corner, I’m starting to think about what my five food favorites were this month!
Cookies are delicious. Cookies stuffed with delicious extras, even better! I especially love stuffing cookies with candy (who else is ready for these candy cane kiss cookies to come out once the holiday season hits?).
If you aren’t quite in the holiday spirit and want something more September-friendly, these pumpkin cookies from Butternut Bakery stuffed with cream cheese are perfect for fall!
I’ve been really into making cakes lately but the truth is, I do it for the frosting! Once I have a crumb coated cake, it’s like a blank slate to get creative with!
Lately I’ve gotten really into drip cakes and simple (yet elaborate looking) icing. My favorite recipe for buttercream is my lavender chocolate but I’ve also been known to take the lavender out for a decadent crowd-pleasing chocolate buttercream. Another recent favorite? Peanut butter buttercream! Although be warned, this isn’t light on everyone’s favorite sweet and salty flavors.
The Bar Keepers Friend
If you’ve ever burned caramel into a pot or otherwise done similar damage to your cookware, you know how frustrating it can be to get it out. I’m guilty of starting caramel and then forgetting about it so this has happened a few times more than I’d like to admit.
I tried EVERYTHING to fix my pot. Or so I thought. One try with the Bar Keepers Friend and my pot was spotless. Needless to say I’m a convert and haven’t stopped talking about this all week long.
I’m trying to snack healthier so keeping clementines around has made it easier for me to grab-and-go fruit rather than chocolate. I go through 2-3 a day so I’d definitely be open to other healthy snacking alternatives if you’ve got them for me!
A few years ago, I made a tangerine shortbread that was so so delicious. I’m thinking it’s time to fiddle with the recipe and come up with a clementine version!
This one should be on my list every month but I’ll show some (surprising) self-restraint. As soon as the temperature drops I’m all about the warm beverages. Especially those that contain chocolate.
If you’ve ever shared a workspace with me, you’ve probably noticed that I drink hot chocolate all year long. At least when fall hits, I can convince other to join me in enjoying some hot chocolate!
