The end of the month is here again so it’s time for another round of my five food favorites! If you missed my June favorites, make sure to catch up here.
During a trip to New York City earlier this month, I convinced one of my besties to walk around the city to photograph food. All day. I love having company when I go on my ‘research trips’ so I was so glad she agreed to help me taste test everything. We jumped around the city and tried a variety of colorful and instagram-worthy treats (and hit our step goals along the way). It wasn’t until I got home of course that I realized how much ube-flavored things I had ordered!
I have a fun ube pancake recipe on the site that has always been a reader favorite but beyond that, I’d never really eaten a ton of ube. Until I ordered an ube-ice cream filled donut and an ube-flavored latte within hours of each other. Now I can’t get the idea of recreating that ube-ice cream at home. What do y’all think – too weird or just right?
A few years ago, mug brownies hit the internet and they were huge. They were soon followed by mug cakes and cookies but largely the trend passed and people stopped obsessing over them, or maybe that was just me. Regardless, I dove back into them this week because I’ve been having some serious chocolate cravings after dinner and just didn’t have it in me to bake something for myself. And yes, I’m right back where I was 4 years ago: completely addicted and obsessed.
Tiny Kitchen Tools
Okay, so when I say tiny, I’m not talking about those absolutely miniscule kitchen tools that appear in those itty-bitty kitchen videos on YouTube. You know the ones I’m talking about, with the doll-sized kitchens making tiny pancakes and cookies. As much as I love watching those videos, I’ll save those for another roundup. I’m talking about the mini cheese grater, or the small whisks and spatulas that I use for my mug brownies. I was just wondering who could need something so small when I got back into mug brownies and realized that I am that person who requires something so small! Imagine that.
I’m on a big berry kick this month, which I hadn’t realized until I reviewed my blog content from the last three weeks: a bubbly berry cocktail, mini fruit (i.e. berry) pies and berry-inspired must-haves! I blame the season because I’m just eating what’s in season, and what my mom is stocking our fridge with. I’ve got one more berry-licious dessert heading your way in a few weeks so stay tuned. I won’t give you any extra hints other than it is full of strawberries and chocolate.
Rosé all Day
I feel silly adding this one to my list because, let’s be real, rosé is always on my favorite foods list. I’m adding it on here though because it isn’t just rose that I’m crushing on but rosé-based drinks. Yes, I’m looking at you frosé!
What are your food favorites for July? Let me know so I can check them out!
