Real talk right now. It is really hard to be a recipe blogger when I don’t have a kitchen. Like, really hard. I guess that’s where planning comes in handy. Remember when I said I was going to be really good about planning out my recipes and blog posts way in advance? I’ll let you guess how well that is doing. (hint: not well)
Colin and I have another few weeks until we move into our permanent place so until then we’ve been living in an under-equipped airbnb. I’m kicking myself for filling my car with practical things when I moved rather than my ice cream machine.
Luckily for me my new Michigan home has lots of ice cream spots just waiting to be taste-tested so I’ve been hard at work visiting all of my favorite local spots. In case anyone is keeping track Blank Slate is still at the top of my list but the line gets crazy after dinner so if you’re in town make sure to try it out mid-afternoon to avoid spending ages in line.
I usually use my Monday Musing posts to round up all of the fun things I’ve been reading but honestly, I haven’t been reading much good news lately. The low rise jeans trend is on the rise, my old leasing company is trying to charge me rent twice for the same month, I found (and then lost) a giant spider in my apartment, and on a more serious note, one of my favorite cities in the world was the center of so much hatred and violence this past weekend. After living there for four years, I love Charlottesville and have so many wonderful memories from time there so this weekend’s events were incredibly hard to read about. I felt powerless being so far away and so frustrated at how people who don’t know the first thing about being victimized felt the need to demonstrate their hatred and ignorance on such a large scale.
So, no links this week. This wasn’t one of those weeks where I want to share the stories I was reading because for the most part, they were incredibly depressing. Don’t worry though, the rest of the week’s content is back to my regularly scheduled programing and I’ll hold off on doing any more Monday Musing posts until I’ve got positive news to share with y’all.
